Did You Know?

  • Standing at 6'10'', Randy is the tallest and arguably the most intimidating man to ever play in the major leagues.

  • He has been an All-Star 9 times (1990, 1993-95, 1997, 1999-2002).

  • Randy is a 5-time Cy Young award winner (1995, 1997, 1999-2002).  The award in 1995 came with the Mariners and the other four with the D-Backs.  The only other pitchers to win the award in both leagues are Gaylord Perry and Pedro Martinez.

  • During the World Series in 2001, Randy became the first pitcher in 35 years to win 3 games in The Fall Classic.  He was later named World Series Co-MVP with teammate Curt Schilling as they captured their first MLB Championship.

  • Randy has led his league in Complete Games 4 times (1994, 1999-2000, 2002).

  • Randy has led his league in ERA 4 times as well (1995, 1999, 2001-02).

  • In 2002 Randy and Curt Schilling inked themselves into the record books by becoming the first teammates to both eclipse 300 K's in a single season.

  • Randy has a no-hitter to his resume, accomplishing this on June 2, 1990 as a Mariner.

  • Randy also won the Triple Crown for NL pitchers in 2002, leading the league in Wins, ERA and Strikeouts.

  • Randy has led both leagues in strikeouts (1992-95 in the AL and 1999-2002 in the NL).  During his career he has fanned 20 batters once (May 8, 2001), 19 batters twice (June 24, 1997 and August 8, 1997) and 18 batters once (September 27, 1992).
