overall pick in the first round of the 1994 June draft.
- Nomar had an amazing rookie season (.306 BA,
30 HR, 98 RBI, 22 steals), becoming the 6th player to be unanimously voted
AL Rookie of the Year in 1997.
- Nomar had a 30 game hitting during his
rookie campaign, breaking Guy Cutright's AL rookie record by 4 games.
- Nomar's AL leading 209 hits in 1997 broke
Johnny Pesky's 1942 rookie record of 205.
- Nomar also led the league with 11 triples in
1997. He became the first Boston Red Sox player to be in double figures in
