Did You Know?
- Jim is a 3-time All-Star (1995, 2000,
2003).
- Jim is a 6-time Gold Glove winner, doing it in
both leagues (1997-98, 2000-03).
- Jim shares the Cardinal record for
reaching base for 12 consecutive at bats, a record that was originally set
in 1929.
- Jim makes it look easy in the field
with his laid back attitude while averaging stellar numbers at the plate
(.293 BA, 33 HR, 100 RBI and 109 Runs).
- Less than 2 weeks before the 2000 season, Jim
was traded to St Louis. He not only embraced his new home by signing a 6-year
extension with the club, but he set personal career highs with 42 HR, 306
Total Bases, 108 RBI, 129 Runs and a 4th-place finish in the NL MVP voting.
He also helped lead his team to a berth in the postseason.
- Playing in his first postseason in 2000,
Jim torched whatever pitching staff he faced, especially the heavily favored
Braves. He went yard twice, drove in seven runs and had 4 doubles in
that series. Three of those doubles came in one game, which tied a NLDS record.
